Biophilia clinic promotes the use of new technologies such as bio and nanotechnologies. These technologies are considered as, Lynn Margulis and Doron Sagan (leading Gaian theorists), propsed that technology is not a human artefact:
it is as old as life on Earth... we are ourselves technological devices, invented by ancient bacterial communities as means of genetic survival... Thinking of our bodies as natural and of our technologies as artificial gives too much importance to the accident of our origins.

The method and spirit of engineering is important however. Biophilic practice tends towards triggering suppressed genes in our genome to reconsider vestigal organs or forms of Atavism. These are suppressed traces of our evolutionary past which can become desired tools for symbiotic change.
